Prospective Teams
'Get Cracking' is suited to bright and academically motivated students who enjoy going above and beyond their standard curriculum. The competition features many of the most academically able schools in the country and has a high 'rate of return' year on year from regular schools, with high demand for the limited 'new entrant' places each year.

It runs from September to February of Year 12, to give students the experience and opportunity to acquire core skills, without clashing with key End of Year exams. It also allows students to gain experience early in Year 12 to help inform university course choices. Some schools run it as part of a regular activity slot, others in students' own time over lunchtime or after school - the timings are up to the teachers and students to suit their circumstances.

The competition organiser is a former Head of Physics/Science who previously entered teams into the competition before running it, hence knows the demands of teachers in high achieving schools. The mentors are also often former participants or teachers, hence also know the time constraints and abilities of the students involved.

Schools interested in getting involved are encouraged to use the contact form to get in touch with the main organiser, who can set up a call to answer questions directly and also introduce to existing teachers to hear their experience. Prospective entrants are also welcome to attend the competition day in February each year to see the format in more detail.
